


After graduating dux of his film school class, Caldwell Entertainment (CE) founder Steven (Steve) Caldwell built his hands-on capacity in the camera and editorial departments of several Australian feature films, where he worked with Chris Nyst (Gettin' Square, Spit), Firass Dirani (Underbelly: The Golden Mile, House Husbands), Jay Laga'aia (Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones), Josh Lawson (Any Questions For Ben, The Campaign) and Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street, Barbie).
Only a few years into his career, Steve then produced and edited his debut feature film, Bad Behaviour, a serial killer thriller starring John Jarratt (Wolf Creek, Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained), Roger Ward (Mad Max) and Jean Kittson (Good News Week). The film was released internationally and won six festival awards, including an industry award for Steve's editing.
With his profile on the rise, Steve was chosen to produce and direct music videos for both independent artists and finalists of national TV talent shows including Australian Idol, Australia’s Got Talent & X-Factor. Around this time, Steve was also hand-picked by underworld raconteur Mark 'Chopper' Read to produce and direct Chopper: The Last Chapter, a DVD for one of his final spoken word live shows, and was editor and key contributor for the feature-length documentary Chopper and Hammer: Legends & Lunatics.
Highly regarded for his honest, ethical and client focused approach to doing business, Steve has built Caldwell Entertainment into a leading South-East Queensland production company with hundreds of clients including; Hutchinson Builders, Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA), PlayForce, City of Gold Coast, Sony Pictures, Aussie Car Loans, AEG, Panelfab, Husk Rum & Universal Studios.
Along with running Caldwell Entertainment, Steve has been engaged as a sessional lecturer both at the nationally esteemed JMC Academy & the internationally prestigious New York Film Academy, where he has taught the next generation of filmmakers how to navigate the production industry and build sustainable careers.
Looking ahead, the future is brighter than ever with 2 TV projects Steve has produced being set to launch in 2025 & 2026. The first, “Over the Hill In Clackerville” is a hand-drawn animated comedy Steve co-wrote and co-directed with former CE Team member Nathan Baldassero. The second, “Dragon’s Prey” (based off the Dragon Trilogy of books by Jason F Boggs) is a 3D animated science-fiction space opera Steve is co-writing & co-directing along with producing.
